David Burnett, CSCS
I came to Phenomenal Fitness as a client in 2010 while training for my first and only Ironman triathlon. In some respects I was very fit, but in others—soft tissue health, joint mobility, strength and power—I was quite the opposite. Even though our bodies are living, breathing healing machines, my exclusive endurance regimen left me teetering on the brink of injury.
After a few months of consistent work with a personal trainer, I was stronger, faster, and moved with less pain than I had in 15 years.
I believe each client’s training program should be applicable to his or her life experience outside the gym. Want to run your best marathon? Take the stairs without knee discomfort or losing your breath? Be agile enough to get on the floor and play with your grand kids? Through functional and traditional strength training I can help you cultivate movement patterns that will improve your athletic performance and quality of life.
In college, I rowed for the University of Iowa Crew and coached rowing for adults and juniors at the local community club. Last year, after seven years in the financial services industry, I left my career to dedicate myself full time to the practice of training. I am Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
